What 5KFM Studio Scholars is About?
The 5KFM program is more than an art program—it’s a creative community hub for children and teens to create, connect, and inspire. The studio offers:
Regular art-making opportunities (workshops, drop-in time, master-classes) that nurture skills, self-expression, and creative confidence.
A safe, fun, supportive space where kids feel free to try, experiment, fail, and grow—aligned with your experience at the NYC DOE and your passion for working with children.
A community dimension: members, families, local artists, and volunteers come together, creating relationships, sharing works, exhibiting art, and celebrating each other.
A service/impact lens: as part of the broader 5KFM mission, the studio also supports outreach—kids creating work for the community, participating in events and giving back.
.Benefits for kids and community:
Kids develop a consistent, structured creative habit—one meaningful project per month.
Builds peer connection: members see what others are creating, share ideas, be inspired.
Low barrier to entry: encourages broad participation and helps introduce children/teens to art in a supportive environment.
Families and community feel invited: the newsletter and online gallery bring everyone into the process, fostering a collective sense of involvement.
Recognizes and celebrates children’s creative efforts via the monthly badge—boosting confidence and belonging.
